Sir Dandy
I’m Sir Dandy recently opened my second solo exhibition, “Imitation of Life,” at Art & Science in Grand Indonesia, Central Jakarta. The show presents my paintings and screenprints featuring two of my signature characters — reinterpretations of Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. In these works, I wanted to reverse the classic story. The girl now appears dominant, while the wolf is often shown as the prey. Both still reflect their original symbols — purity and instinct but in a more ambiguous way. The settings come from real-life scenes around me, seen through the eyes of these two characters. My goal is to make viewers think about what happens when roles in life not just in fairy tales — are reversed. Each piece reflects my signature style: bold colors and simple, graphic forms that give a modern touch to familiar imagery.
